The stars were aligned when this Sagittarius and Cancer began their office romance. Thomas’ compassion, kindness and generosity immediately won him a spot in Valerie’s heart. As Thomas crunched numbers, it was her bright smile, confidence and sense of humour that got him through the day.
The laughter of her loved ones filled the air at a BBQ that Valerie was attending during her visit to Los Angeles. She was pleasantly surprised when she saw Thomas, who had flown out to the City of Angels to propose to her.
“It was unexpected, thoughtful, and absolutely perfect,” Valerie says, reminiscing.
Made in Mexico
Upon the recommendation of their wedding specialist, Mexico was the picture-perfect choice for their destination wedding. In November 2013, along the idyllic shores of Playa Mujeres on the Yucatan peninsula, a party of 35 gathered to bear witness to the nuptial of Valerie and Thomas. Serenaded by an eight-piece Mariachi band against a pink sky, the couple exchanged their vows of matrimony as vivid tones of champagne, eggplant, navy and grey dotted the decor of their special day.
Set in a villa-style venue by the water, with an aromatic potpourri of black scabiosas, blue stars, berries, echeveria succulents, eucalyptus seeds, calla and picasso lilies filling the air and ambiance of this glorious night, Valerie and Thomas made precious memories they would cherish forever.
From the Dia de Los Muertos caketoppers that included their dog, Mia, to the miniature, personalized bottles of Don Julio tequila, and the traditional Mexican market bags filled with local snacks as welcome gifts, the couple added special touches unique to their destination. In the home-away-from-home comfort of the seaside villa, with their hands lovingly intertwined the entire night, he kept her close as they danced to their wedding song, No One’s Gonna Love You by Band of Horses. The evening came to a blissful end, and the couple retired to their bridal suite, to be greeted by… A bat!
“Getting married in tropical Mexico has its surprises. I happened to love bats!” exclaims Valerie.
