Real Wedding: Maria Elena & Jonathan

 Where it all started

Maria Elena and Jonathan’s love story began in the eighth grade. For their first date, Jonathan invited Maria Elena to a Halloween party at their school. The pair lost touch as they grew older but years later, fate brought them back together and the couple reconnected in paradise at Riu Caribe in Cancun.

Two children and a house later, Maria Elena and Jonathan decided it was the perfect time to get married. Staying true to their laidback style, the couple skipped an elaborate proposal and went ring shopping together.

 Planning the wedding

Maria Elena and Jonathan’s love for travel, the beach and one another made their decision to host a destination wedding easy. They chose Punta Cana for its breathtaking vistas, sparkling beaches and to revisit their favorite resort, Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa. Everything from the resort’s upscale dining options and impeccable service to the picture-perfect facilities made it the ideal spot to tie the knot.

 Day details

On May 2nd, 2019, Maria Elena and Jonathan exchanged vows on the glistening shores of Punta Cana. Their boho-chic ceremony took place beneath a charming beach gazebo surrounded by 31 of their nearest and dearest including their two children, dressed in matching outfits. After saying “I do”, the newlyweds and their guests toasted to forever over dinner at Oceanside Grill restaurant before celebrating in style with an after party on the Sky Terrace.

The newlyweds agree that the highlight of their tropical nuptials was the first look. Jonathan was in awe seeing Maria Elena in her gorgeous lace gown and Maria Elena’s most memorable moment was seeing the love of her life waiting for her at the end of the sandy aisle.
