Real Wedding: Jennifer & Francis

Congratulations to Jennifer and Francis for winning our Quebec Real Weddings Photo Contest for Volume 7 Issue 2.

Where it all Started

Growing up in the charming small town of Val des Monts, just north of Ottawa, Jennifer was riding the bus to high school when a handsome boy from a higher grade, Francis, noticed her and introduced himself. At first, Jennifer was nervous because she was younger and thought he would want nothing to do with her, but Francis was nice, polite, and made everything feel easy.

After the initial nerves subsided, the two new lovebirds started talking about everything and anything, relishing every minute and never imagining that their morning commute to school would become the best part of their day. They’ve been by each other’s side ever since.

Planning the Wedding

At 11:11 in the morning, on a beautiful early spring day, eleven years and eleven months after their first date, Francis decided it was time to pop the question.  When he asked for Jennifer’s hand and gave her one minute to answer before the clock struck 11:12, she was overcome with emotion and through tears of joy said ‘yes’.

Riu Ocho Rios

The newly engaged couple knew they wanted their wedding to focus on three things: simplicity, intimacy and love. Together with 15 of their closest family and friends, they decided to have their destination wedding in Jamaica at Riu Ocho Rios . The couple had travelled there the previous year and knew that everything would be just right – from the food to the scenery.

Day Details

On December 9th, the day of Jennifer and Francis’ wedding, it felt as if time had stopped. From the colourful flowers to the perfect beach setting to the subtle elegance of their wedding bands, everything was glowing a little brighter that day.

The ceremony – the bride and groom’s favourite part of their big day – took place at the far end of the beach, away from tourists and under a little gazebo enveloped in white veils.  With blue waters  as the beautiful backdrop, Jennifer walked down the aisle wearing an all- lace dress and the pendant Francis had given her a month after they first met. Francis looked classically handsome in a bow tie and suspenders as the happy couple they expressed their love for each other in an intimate moment that will be remembered for the rest of their lives.
