Keep Them Entertained: Guest Activities

Some couples are hesitant to ask wedding guests to use their vacation time to attend a destination wedding. If your heart is set on a wedding in a tropical climate, the best way to avoid these worries is to plan activities and entertainment for everyone who attends. One of the many perks of having a destination wedding is there’s much less work required for the bride and groom, so why not take advantage of your free-time in the sun with your nearest and dearest?

Have a beach day

Let everyone know you’re going to be spending the day on the beach and pick a time to meet. This is a great chance to take plenty of group photos. Start a bridesmaids vs groomsmen volleyball game or throw a sandcastle building competition. This is a nice way to welcome everyone to the resort and get your guests to start relaxing, together.

Plan a local excursion

Before departure, send all your guests some information on tours you’d like to do together. If your wedding guests love to party, why not plan an all-inclusive trip to a local floor show or nightclub? Older guests might appreciate cultural or wildlife tours that let them see all the sites ┬áin comfort. Tours that combine multiple sites and activities usually have something that will interest everyone. Ask your destination wedding planner for recommendations and you’ll easily find an excursion everyone will love.

Stay in

Well, sort of. There are many all-inclusive resorts that have nightclubs or casinos right in the property. Why not plan a group night at the casino or create a theme night for dancing? For a night at the club have your guests dress like their favourite rock star or plan a retro night. Give out a prize for the best costume at the end of the night.

Quick Tip:

Any events, excursions, or themes you plan for your guests, let them know ahead of time so they know what to pack.Include an itinerary with their invitation and let guests choose whether or not they want to join in.

You know your guests best, if your family and friends all prefer big group events and parties then events like these will be a hit. If you think planning activities outside of the wedding celebrations might pressure your guests too much, a list of fun suggestions of activities and nearby attractions is a friendly and thoughtful touch.
