A question we have been getting from many brides lately is “how do I incorporate the season’s hottest colour trends into my destination wedding?” With the colour experts, Pantone, recently releasing their Colour of the 2018 as ultra violet, we decided to compile a list of ways in which you can incorporate this purple hue into your destination wedding. Bouquet and Boutonniere

One of our favourite ways to incorporate ultra violet into your destination wedding is with your wedding florals, whether that be with your bridal bouquet, your groom’s boutonniere or your flower girl’s petals. You can play around with different shades of violet in your bouquet, using deep purples or light violets and finishing off with little touches of white, which complement the rich purple shades wonderfully.

Bridesmaids Dresses

Violet is a colour that flatters most skin tones and body shapes, making it a great choice for your bridesmaid’s dresses. You can have your bridesmaids wear the same shade of violet in different silhouettes, or wear varying shades of violet in the same silhouette. No matter what option you choose, your bridal party is sure to look gorgeous and on trend.

Ceremony and Reception Décor

Make ultra violet the centrepiece of your ceremony or reception décor using flowy fabrics and chair backings to decorate the space. Beach archways are a staple of destination weddings and they can be made even more gorgeous when draped in sheer violet fabrics. Use matching fabric to tie around the backs of chairs or experiment with different shades of violet for your chair backings and table centrepieces.

Sand Ceremony

Sand ceremonies are a beautiful addition to your destination wedding and a touching symbolization of your two lives becoming one. Incorporate ultra violet into your sand ceremony using violet-coloured sand or better yet, different shades of violet-coloured sand! The combined sand can then be corked in a bottle and taken home as a memento of your big day.

Wedding Cake

A non-traditional way to incorporate ultra violet into your destination wedding is with your wedding cake! One unique idea is to adorn your cake with large violet flowers cascading down the tiers, as seen in the photo above left. Or, you can add smaller touches of violet to cupcakes using edible flowers, as seen in the photo above right. And of course, you can always go the more traditional route and decorate your cake using purple icing!
